Since childhood, Fr. Joseph Kabali was deeply influenced by his grandmother’s words: “Joseph, people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.” This instilled in him a lifelong passion for caring for others, especially those suffering, and seeking ways to alleviate their pain. After high school, he felt a calling to the priesthood, which he answered, leading to his ordination in 1996.
During his seminary training and pastoral experiences, Fr. Kabali became aware of what Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta described as “a vocation within the vocation” — the call to minister to couples within his priestly ministry. This awareness inspired him to pursue further studies. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in Kenya and another in Theology, followed by a licentiate in Theology in Colombia, a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, and a Doctorate in Family Psychology in the United States. He also obtained a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of New Jersey.
Empowered by his grandmother’s wisdom, his formal education, and the “vocation within the vocation,” Fr. Kabali was encouraged by one of his professors to transform his research-based dissertation into a book accessible to the general public. This resulted in the publication of his first book, Stability and Satisfaction in Remarriage, which was later translated into Spanish. He followed this with another book, Stability and Satisfaction in Marriage.
Fr. Kabali's goal is to demonstrate care for as many people as possible by empowering them to establish and maintain stable, satisfying, and harmonious relationships with themselves, their significant others, and God.
